These are exciting times for advocates of medical cannabis in Illinois. Registered patients are now receiving their registry identification cards in the mail and dispensaries finally have medicine available for sale.

Today, there are 9 dispensaries open for business throughout the Illinois and a total of 25 are expected to be open before the end of 2015.

Right now, product is limited to dry flower. A wider variety is expected to be available in stores within the next month. Eventually, dispensaries in Illinois will carry a variety of products which will include extracts, concentrates, edibles, capsules and transdermal patches.

Registered patients must designate one dispensary where they will be purchasing medicine. Click HERE for the state’s dispensary selection form. Patients may use the same form to switch dispensaries. Note: the IDPH will handle change requests in the order that they are received.

Although registered patients are allowed to visit any dispensary with their card, 
they MUST designate a dispensary before being able to purchase medicine.
