HOW YOU CAN HELP SHAPE THE MEDICAL CANNABIS PROGRAM IN ILLINOIS
Good news for Illinois citizens.
The state of Illinois is making a new effort in giving us all the opportunity to partake in shaping the new medical marijuana law.
“Illinois residents may petition the Illinois Department of Public health to add debilitating medical conditions or diseases to those listed in subsection (h) of Section 10 of the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act.”
At The Healing Clinic, we are constantly getting calls from people who are suffering and could seriously benefit from medical cannabis but can’t register right now because the law is so restrictive and the list is so limited. It’s exciting to be given a chance to make changes that could potentially benefit thousands of people.
The current list of approved conditions leaves out more common but still severe conditions such as pain, nausea and muscle spasms. Just so you know, those conditions qualify in other states like Michigan, Hawaii and Arizona.
Now that the Petition to Add a Debilitating Medical Condition has been released, the time has come for those suffering who are excluded from the pilot program to act.
The submission must include the original petition, two paper petitions and an electronic copy on a disc or flash drive; and must be delivered by certified mail to the Illinois Department of Public Health in Springfield, IL.
If the petition is accepted, the Department will refer the petition documents to the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board.
Petitions will be accepted until January 31, 2015.
Join us at The Healing Clinic on Wednesday, January 21st between 6-8pm to write petitions that will be submitted to the Illinois Department of Public Health. We will be providing all of the materials necessary for a successful submission and will be happy to mail them in on your behalf. RSVP using the form below.
We look forward to meeting fellow advocates and joining efforts to make more healing happen!
